GOLF CONSTRUCTION GROUND WORKER

Conor J Walsh Golf are looking to fill 3 positions for Golf Construction Ground Workers, the positions will suit those with golf maintenance or golf construction back grounds. With multiple project sites in the UK and abroad. We have great opportunities for those looking to develop or continue a versatile career in golf construction and maintenance.

We are looking for individuals with:

  • Experience working on golf course projects.
  • Experience installing drainage pipes, completing bunker/tees and greens construction.
  • With a basic knowledge for using laser levels and working with falls.
  • The ability to operate machinery such as mini diggers and dumpers.

Turfing, cultivating, and seeding works will be a benefit but not essential as training will be provided.

You will be required to work within a team structure working on different sites and locations, in the UK and abroad.

Have a full UK drivers licence.

GOLF CONSTRUCTION TRACTOR DRIVER

Conor J Walsh Golf are looking to fill positions for Golf Construction tractor drivers, the position will suit those with golf maintenance or golf construction back grounds. With multiple project sites in the UK and abroad. We have great opportunities for those looking to develop or continue a versatile career in golf construction and maintenance.

We are looking for an individual with:

  • Experience ideally working on golf course projects, sports fields, and landscaping.
  • A basic experience in golf course maintenance.
  • Experience operating tractors with different attachments for cultivation.
  • Experience with soil cultivating to a finished state and seeding works.
  • The flexibility to operate other machinery when required.
  • A basic knowledge for using laser levels and working with falls.

You will be required to work within a team structure working on different sites and locations, in the UK and abroad.

PLANT OPERATOR

Conor J Walsh Golf are looking to fill positions of Golf Construction Plant Operator, the position will suit those with earthworks and golf construction back grounds. With multiply project sites in the UK and abroad. We have great opportunities for those looking to develop or continue a versatile career in golf construction and maintenance.

We are looking for an individual with:

  • Experience operating plant machinery, ie articulated dumpers, excavators, dozers
  • Experience working on golf course projects, sports fields, and landscaping but not essential.
  • Experience with earthworks, topsoil stripping and material respreading.
  • The basic knowledge for using laser levels and working with falls.
  • The flexibility to operate other machinery when required.

You will be required to work within a team structure working on different sites and locations, in the UK and abroad.

Have a full UK drivers’ licence.

GREENKEEPER

The Greenkeeper will report to the Senior Grow-in Manager or the Agronomist and will assist in the establishment and maintenance of the renovated golf course.  Golf Course Maintenance Facility and associated facilities including driving range, putting greens and any other areas that are deemed in ‘Grow-in’.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS-

Course Maintenance Responsibilities:

  • Operate course maintenance equipment as directed observing safe-operating procedures at all times.
  • Implement daily course requirements involving mowing greens, tees, fairways and roughs with the specified equipment.
  • Implement all cultivation operations including aeration, top dressing, scarification, sward refinement to all playing surfaces.
  • Assist with grow in and establishment of greens, tees and fairways.
  • Apply all fertiliser, supplements, and turf protection products accurately in accordance with legislation and best practice.
  • Implement all maintenance practices in accordance with environmental best practice.
  • Work with external community groups and project partners.

Machinery Maintenance Responsibilities:

  • Implement/Assist with daily machinery set up involving height of cut, daily checks, routine maintenance.
  • Ensure that the equipment cooling system is working at all times; refill fuel and oil daily; clean equipment daily and report equipment problems or failures to the Senior Grow-in Manager or Mechanic immediately.
  • Provide basic preventive maintenance on equipment as directed by the Senior Grow-in Manager, Mechanic or the Agronomist and for returning equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility.

Key Relationships:

  • Senior Grow-in Manager, Agronomist or Mechanic, Head Greenkeeper (customer).

Qualifications (Minimum)

  • NVQ2 (or equivalent) in Turfgrass Science (or similar course).
  • Experience in a similar grounds maintenance role.

Qualifications (Desirable)

  • NVQ3 (or equivalent) in Turfgrass Science (or similar course).
  • Experience in a similar turf management role.
  • Experience in operation and maintenance of modern turf maintenance machinery. Experience of community engagement and working with local volunteer groups.
  • Member of BIGGA and other relevant trade organisations.
  • Any chainsaw certificates (e.g. CS30 and CS31) and spraying certificates (e.g. PA1, PA2 and PA6).
  • An interest in golf. SKILLS & PERSONAL QUALITIES In addition, the successful candidate should:
  • Be committed to developing themselves through training and CPD.
  • Be able to work individually and as part of a team.
  • Have good communication skills.
  • Have a hands-on work ethic and a willingness to learn.
  • Be flexible and willing to work outside normal working hours when necessary
