Conor Walsh

CEO, Founder

For Conor, Golf isn’t just a job…it’s a passion.

Conor explains, “I’ve always loved Golf, and not just the playing of it. I’ve always admired the beauty of golf courses, and how an exceptionally well designed golf course can really enhance the enjoyment of the sport. I’m very lucky. How many people can say that they work in an industry that they’re truly passionate about?”

For over 20 years, Conor has worked in golf course construction as a Master golf course shaper and project manager and has had the privilege of working with many of the world's leading designers. Born and raised in Angus, just down the road from Carnoustie and across the River Tay from St Andrews, Conor continues to be a keen golfer. Now based in Surrey, any spare time Conor does have is spent with his wife and three children, or, on a nearby golf course!

Business and Legal Manager

As the Business and Legal manager for CJW Golf, Emma-Jane provides legal support and knowledge in areas of contracts, company and employment law whilst also being involved in all business-related matters and the running of the company’s overall administration. Emma-Jane previously practised as an in-house Banking Solicitor and brings her invaluable experience and guidance to the running of the company.

Construction Foreman/ Lead Finisher

Jamie started working in the golf construction industry in 2013. Very quickly gaining a huge amount of experience and an incredible passion for the industry, Jamie joined CJW Golf in 2017. Developing his role from a golf construction specialist to our Construction Foreman and Lead Finisher, Jamie is an integral member of the team with excellent attention to detail, as well as showing a complete dedication to his work.

He has also taken lead control of our international projects, such as Golf D’Hardelot, Le Touquet and Puerto de Hierro in Madrid. Some of his favourite projects include work at the New Zealand Golf Club, The Berkshire and Gullane. A keen golfer, Jamie plays off 17 and takes his clubs where ever he goes.

Jamie says; “There’s nothing more satisfying than enjoying a round of golf on a top class course that has been constructed by Conor J Walsh Golf!”

Julian Covey

Project Finance Manager

Julian has over 46 years’ experience in the construction and maintenance of high-quality golf courses.
He started his greenkeeping career at the age of 16 starting at Liphook Golf Course then to the Isle of Purbeck, Hindhead, Old Thorns before moving to The Tytherington Club to assist in the grow-in and then became Course Manager there. He began course construction in 1990.
Examples of some of the projects Julian has been involved in.
• Constructed over 20 golf courses from conception and planning through to opening.
• Alterations to existing golf courses including the reconstruction of golf greens, tees lakes and bunkers.
• Overseeing constructions of the new course at the Ageas Bowl Golf Club.
• Earthworks and installation of services for the new log cabin developments at South Winchester and Abbotsley Golf Clubs.
• Managing the installation of irrigation systems at golf courses such as Sunningdale Golf Club.
• Managing the golf course drainage project at the Royal Ashdown Forest Golf Club.
• Construction of Astroturf water-based hockey pitches at Millfield School and Oxford University.

Industry Partner

After leaving agriculture and green keeping behind, Shane pursued a career in golf course construction over 20 years ago which developed into a passion for the industry. He has collaborated with many leading industry architects including Nick Faldo, Gary Player & Arnold Palmer but is equally as passionate on the small course projects as well. Throughout his shaping and project management career he has prided himself on one philosophy “quality before quantity.” Residing in Dublin, Ireland with his partner, he has run his own business since 2005 and when he has time away from work regularly plays the game.

Rhys Thomas

Contracts Supervisor

My career in Greenkeeping started 38 years ago at Enville Golf Club a heathland golf club with 27 holes which later opened to 36 holes. My initiation to greenkeeping was stone picking fairways for 6 weeks. I attended Elmwood college in Fife for greenkeeping and gained a first place in Theory and Practical greenkeeping which was sponsored by ST Andrews Links Trust.
I have been a Head Greenkeeper for 28 years Starting at Great Barr after 6 years moved to the South Staffordshire Golf where the club hosted PTS and HSBC Invitational which was covered by Sky TV. other events included a Boys International England v Scotland and British Ladies 5-day event.
Over the last 8 years I have been responsible for the Complete Bunker Restoration at Blackwell Golf Club in conjunction with Architect Frank Pont the club has now moved up to 65 in the top 100.
I was an active member of the British International Golf Greenkeepers Association for 25 years organising Educational Days and Golf Tournaments and was Chairmen of the Midland Section.
I am a keen golfer and have been lucky to play some great golf courses.

Dylan Brychta

Industry Partner

Dylan joined CJW Golf as an Industry Partner in 2019. With an Engineering (Hons) qualification under his belt, Dylan has also been a successful Greenkeeper at Tyrells Wood GC and the Equipment Manager at Beaverbrook GC. Dylan has an invaluable level of experience in multi-tasking between all areas of golf construction, running equipment and paying special attention to the maintenance of our machinery.

As a professional racing driver, when Dylan is not busy working on one of our golf construction projects, you’ll probably find Dylan tearing around some of the best UK race tracks. Dylan plays off a handicap of 9.

Eric Olson

Operations Manager

Eric has joined CJW in 2022 as Operations Manager. Along with his BSc in Turfgrass and Horticulture from Oregon State University and Class A status with the GCSAA, Eric has been working within the golf industry for 30+ years. Having held positions of Superintendent, Project and Grow-in Manager at elite facilities around the world with experience from Sahalee Country Club and Cypress Point Club in the USA; Kauri Cliffs in NZ; The Belfry and Beaverbrook in the UK and Pine Valley in China. Eric is experienced with USGA construction, renovations, daily course management and tournament preparations, having prepared for the PGA Championships, US Open and multiple British Masters.

In addition, to his experience in the golf world, Eric has been involved with a variety of international sports turf projects. Some of these include the reconstruction of Churchill Downs (Kentucky Derby), construction and management of King Abduhlaziz Equestrian Fields for the Saudi Cup and agronomic advisory of King Saud University Stadium. These skills and preparing agronomic programs for both warm and cool season grasses has placed Eric well to manage projects at any facility.
